PANEL ONE

Now a grove of giant morels. Somebody's using a hose to clean them
off. Always with huge everblues in the background which provide the
proper growing environment.

Krumm: 'When has something like this ever happened? Arran and Loreanna
went to visit Anastasia ... '

Bretta: 'Yes, I know that.'

PANEL TWO

As they break into the sunlight, we see a rolling meadow and, as
far as the eye can see, outsized hive boxes being tended by people in
beekeepers' suits. One of the bugs zooms between Krumm and Bretta.
Krumm bats at it reflexively.

It's a fist-sized trilaterally symmetrical bee-equivalent.

Krumm: 'The old girl asked them to investigate the Jendyne warship.
They have not been heard from since.'

Bretta: 'Disappeared? My mother and father?'

PANEL THREE

Same area, looking down, over Krumm's massive shoulder, at a
wide-eyed and worried Bretta.

Krumm: 'Along with your father's ship _Osprey_ and her entire crew.'

Bretta: 'Which is why Lia asked you to invite me on this cutting-out
party.'

Krumm: 'Aye, that's the truth of it.'



PANEL FOUR

Closeup, two-shot, Krumm and Bretta looking at each other.

Krumm: 'We'll speak more of this tonight. But now there is someone in
your pantry who bleeds for a minute of your attention.'

Bretta: 'My pantry? You mean the sailor who came with you?'

PANEL FIVE

We watch from behind Krumm's back as Bretta diminishes in the
distance, hurrying back into the forest to return to the Holdings.

Krumm (to himself): 'Methinks she suspects.'
