Four Panels
PANEL ONE (upper lefthand quarter of page)
Bretta bends, trying to look into his suddenly downcast eyes.
Bretta: 'To look and feel whole again?'
Tarrant: 'No, simply not to look repulsive in your eyes.'
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PANEL TWO (upper righthand quarter of page)
Bretta takes up a slice of bread and a huge kitchen knife and
starts to make herself a sandwich. In general, this girl is an athlete
and eats a lot.
Bretta: 'You saved me when I was left for dead. You healed me. You
fought at my side. You _never_ looked repulsive to me.'
Tarrant: 'But you would never have considered going further than
friendship.'
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PANEL THREE (lower lefthand quarter of page)
She continues making the sandwich, avoiding his eyes.
Bretta: 'I was 16 when it ended. I had never considered going further
with anyone, not then -- not when I was recovering from being violated
-- nor even now.'
Tarrant: 'Saving yourself? For whom? For what?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PANEL FOUR (lower right quarter of page)
Now Bretta hunches her shoulders forward a little, her eyes
tightly shut, a pained expression on her face. Her fingertips are on
temples.
Tarrant is up and stands behind her -- we have to see it from the
side a bit, as she's taller than he is -- with his hands on her upper
arms. He looks deeply concerned.
Bretta: 'Oh, Hanebuth, I don't know.'
Tarrant: 'Princess, it was never my intention to cause you pain.'
PANEL FIVE
Bretta stands up straight again, has turned, and kisses a startled
Tarrant on the forehead. (She still has the knife in one hand.)
Bretta: 'You never have. Any fault lies with me. But what of this
mission of Phoebus's. Why have you come along?'
Tarrant (reacting to Bretta's kiss): 'Princess!'
Tarrant: 'Er, I brought the news to Hanover of Halliwater's giant
warship, _Sweek Lestvoh_, and of your parents' disappearance -- '
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PANEL SIX
Tight closeup of Tarrant.
Tarrant: 'I often work for Anastasia. I was among her crew when she
stole a ship to escape a marriage her brother the Ceo Leupould had
arranged for her.'
Tarrant: 'Now we must destroy _Sweek Lestvoh_-- and find Henry Martyn
and his warbride.'
