Three Panels

PANEL THREE (upper half of page)

Inset: The following morning ...

The kids have just come to watch the wheeled, bumper-to-bumper
city traffic through a big window -- there's a window seat -- in the
front parlor. In particular, there's a big municipal bus, covered with
garish government advertising (IRS, USPS, Selective Service, etc.),
only a quarter full, and belching clouds of thick blue smoke. It's
something they knew about in theory, but which they have to see -- and
smell -- to fully appreciate.

In every panel set in this room, make sure there's plenty of
clutter: books, magazines, horrible old furniture, knick-knacks, etc.
We'll be looking at a copy of the _National Enquirer_ somewhere in the
next couple of pages.

Valerie: Good morning, boys -- how'd you like the sofa in the parlor,
Bernie?

Arthur: It probably beats the _floor_ in the parlor. When's
breakfast?

PANEL TWO (lower lefthand quadrant of page)

Valerie sits on the window seat, looking stressed. The boys stand
either side of her, Arthur rummaging through the newspapers and
magazines. In his hand is a news magazine with the headline WAR IN
IRAQ. He holds it out for his friends to see.

Valerie: I slept in my own room last night! It's too confusing! We've
_got_ to find the TimePeeper --

Bernie: So we can send it to our time for help --

Arthur: And get the hell out of _this_ one!

PANEL THREE (lower righthand quadrant of page)

Exterior of the front of Innelda's house. We're looking over
Horatius' shoulder as he passes through the wrought-iron gate (in this
year it's in good repair) and starts up the sidewalk.

We can see Valerie and Bernie, looking out through the large front
window to the left of the front door, and hear them continuing their
discussion.

Valerie: Whatever we do, we'll have to tell _him_ something.

Bernie: You mean _this_ Horatius_ -- 2005 Horatius?
