The Transcript For This Page
PANEL ONE (upper half of page)
We're looking 'up' at the stern, or bottom of one of the Jendyne
ships, somewhat larger than _Resplendent Quetzal_, over the shoulder,
as it were, of Tarrant's boomerang-shaped vessel. Its rear driving
surfaces are blue-white, blazingly hot-looking.
Around the base of the Jendyne vessel, there's an inscription in
an alien-looking script.
Tarrant (to himself): '_Charnish Frabzeel_ -- which, if I recall
correctly, means 'Sweetness and Light'. Or 'Death and Destruction', I
forget which.'
Narrative: 'Meanwhile ... '
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PANEL TWO (lower lefthand quarter of page)
Through Tarrant's canopy, we see several steam launches suddenly
spring away from the ship, employing another of _Henry Martyn_'s old
tactics.
Tarrant: 'Boarding parties!'
Narrative: 'Happily, I was faster than they were, and, for my size,
much better-gunned.'
----------------------------------------------------------------------
PANEL THREE (lower right quarter of page)
Tarrant stoops on one of the auxiliary vessels like a hawk,
blasting with his three nose-mounted force projectors as he goes.
As we see the steam launch, it's exploding in a ball of fire.
