Escape From Terra is updated with new pages every Monday through Friday.
Kickstarter Success!
The Not-Safe-Space 2 Kickstarter Campaign has ended successfully. Thanks to all who pledged!
Now we get to wait 2 weeks while Kickstarter transmits the funds, and Scott can order the books, and send surveys to backers to get current e-mail addresses for the .PDF versions and mailing addresses for the physical books.
All of this should show up in June.
The Transcript For This Page
Panel 1
Re-establish the scene: Babbette, Reggie, and Harmon at the table in the fine restaurant. Food has been served and the three eat and drink as they converse.
Babbette: So Dan, you never did say what business you have on Venus.
Babbette: Care to share?
Panel 2
Focus on Harmon, hunching forward a bit and glancing side to side. We can see a waitress walking by a couple of meters away, not paying any attention to Harmon.
Harmon: This is on the QT, right?
Harmon: There may be complex life on Venus.
Panel 3
Babbette and Reggie both look dubiously at Harmon. He goes on as he cuts into his pot roast.
Harmon: Yes, we all know that the research stations have never seen anything that could be called a plant or an animal.
Panel 4
High angle shot, looking from over Reggie's head at Harmon and Babbette.
Harmon: Of course, we know the surface is a burning hell, but there'd been hope we might find some kind of life floating in the upper atmosphere.
Babbette: But they found nothing, right?
Panel 5
Harmon punctuates his point by stabbing his empty fork into the air in front of him.
Harmon: This has not been released yet, but the air actually is home to something like a bouyant algae.
Harmon: They have tiny vesicles filled with gases a bit lighter than Venus' heavy carbon dioxide atmosphere.
Panel 6
Reggie addresses Harmon as Babbette sips her drink
Reggie: But something tells me you've found more than algae.
Harmon: You could say that.
