The Transcript For This Page

PANEL ONE (upper lefthand quarter of page)

Three-shot, the two Jendynes and Tarrant.

Demondion-Echeverria: 'He is Hanebuth Tarrant, Gav. He -- '

Tarrant: 'I was once exactly what you see, a common Hanoverian
sailor.'

----------------------------------------------------------------------

PANEL TWO (upper righthand quarter of page)

Tight corner cameo of Tarrant, looking reflective. In his mind's
eye, we see a memory. A young woman (she looks like Ayn Rand) stands
at the steering-ball of a sloop-of-war -- a ship small enough that it
has no elevated decks surrounding the maindeck. The control function
is carried out at one edge of the deck. The young woman wears a
thrustible on one arm.

Show some crew, including Tarrant.

Tarrant: 'I was aboard the little ship the Ceo's sister commandeered
to avoid an arranged marriage.'

----------------------------------------------------------------------

PANEL THREE (lower lefthand quarter of page)

Show the Milky Way Galaxy and its companion, the Sagittarius Dwarf
Galaxy, with a red line from its center, out into the larger galaxy,
and two thirds of the way across it, to the Earth-Moon system.

Narrative (Tarrant): 'A long and wearying voyage it was, with many an
adventure and misadventure until we finally came to Lost Earth and her
living Moon.'

----------------------------------------------------------------------

PANEL FOUR (lower right quarter of page)

The Earth and Moon, seen from space. Earth is pearly white, like a
scalded eye. The Moon is green and lush under the forcefield that
restrains its atmosphere.

Narrative (Tarrant): 'The Earth is dead, from a war fought 1000 years
ago. All humanity descends from those who were safe at that time, on
the Moon.'
