The Transcript For This Page
Strip 29
Panel 1
Back at Babbette’s counter, her granddaughter walks up to her holding the Continental note Guy had given her.
B the younger: What the slush am I supposed to do with this, Gramma?
B the elder: Mind your language, honey.
Panel 2
Babbette the elder leans on her counter to peer down at her granddaughter.
B the elder: Anyway, I need you to go round up up the Rev’rend and Sam and Davey and Neil and have them meet me in the poker room, right away.
B the elder (2): I’ll pay you point-2 gold gram.
Panel 3
Looking over the elder’s shoulder at the younger Babbette. She’s in horse-trader mode.
B the younger: Point-5 gold. And you owe me for bringing those two Terries here.
B the elder: Point-three-five, and the usual bounty for 'Shanghaiing' those two 'sailors' for the boarding house. And I’ll give you point-04 for the Continental. Final offer.
Panel 4.
Babbette the younger 'walks' away from the counter, holding the note in front of her with new-found interest. (We see her coming towards us in the foreground-right with her grandmother in the background watching her.)
B the younger: Okay, three-five on the round-up, but I think I’ll keep this note.
B the younger (2): It looks funny. I think I’ll get it laminated and add it to my collection of wierdities.
