Strip 655 -- First Seen: 2011-03-11
Escape From Terra is updated with new pages every Monday through Friday.

QV on a short break

QUANTUM VIVE is taking a break for a few weeks, as we prepare for Part 2 of the Novo Palermo story, and also for a Kickstarter campaign for Part 1, which will start in September.

In the meantime, Not-Safe.Space will continue, as a murder mystery begins and the relationship between Eithne and Diana develops in unexpected directions.

Not-Safe.Space is a NSFW strip but more than half the pages are SFW so I've set those to *not* require a Patreon membership. Readers should be able to follow the story without seeing the NSFW pages. If I've done this right.

Kickstarter successful and closed

The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.

Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.

(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)

Thanks to all for supporting this Kickstarter!

The Transcript For This Page

Panel 1
Babbette and Reggie walking down a hotel corridor. (In Mars' .38g gravity, the walk would almost look Earth-normal but they'd still have a slight forward tilt.)
Caption: Two days later:
Reggie: Instead of the tube, I've arranged for special ground transportation for us.
Babbette: Nobody travels above ground anymore. The tubes go everywhere.

Panel 2
Babbette and Reggie in an elevator.
Reggie: I have something more … elegant in mind for my blushing bride.
Babbette: I haven't blushed since I was 15 and we ain't even hitched yet.
Babbette: But this old gal is ready for a new experience.

Panel 3
Small panel, close 2-shot of Reggie and Babbette.
Reggie: Everything old is new again, including us.

Panel 4
Larger panel, the two are in a garage standing next to the Dymaxion Car. (see the reference photo Sandy sent on 10/13. Also, here's a YouTube video of the original prototype in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlLZE23EJKs )
Reggie: Behold the Dymaxion Car.
Reggie: Designed by Buckminster Fuller in the 1930s, it was resurrected on Mars as an early pressurized surface vehicle.

Panel 5
Reggie seated in the driver's seat of the Dymaxion Car, with Babbette in the passenger seat. Instead of a steering wheel, there's a large joystick mounted front and center. Babbette looks a little nervous, now it's Reggie's turn to look gleeful.
Babbette: You are checked out in this buggy, right?
Reggie: No worries – there's an AI to take over if I screw up.

Panel 6
The Dymaxion Car roars out into the open Martian surface, right through the airskin covering the garage doorway. In this frame, the car has just emerged from the doorway, and we can see the airskin stretched outward and just touching the back end of the super-streamlined vehicle.
