Escape From Terra is updated with new pages every Monday through Friday.
QV on a short break
QUANTUM VIVE is taking a break for a few weeks, as we prepare for Part 2 of the Novo Palermo story, and also for a Kickstarter campaign for Part 1, which will start in September.
In the meantime, Not-Safe.Space will continue, as a murder mystery begins and the relationship between Eithne and Diana develops in unexpected directions.
Not-Safe.Space is a NSFW strip but more than half the pages are SFW so I've set those to *not* require a Patreon membership. Readers should be able to follow the story without seeing the NSFW pages. If I've done this right.
Kickstarter successful and closed
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Thanks to all for supporting this Kickstarter!
The Transcript For This Page
Strip 40
Panel 1
Make panel large enough to include the strip logo, and re-establish the scene: Guy and Fiorella, with Bert and Ernie standing behind and to one side, stand before a raised dais on which King Reginald sits enthroned. Babbette the younger stands at the bottom and to one side of the dais. As Guy is speaking, he is holding up his wrist-band PDA, which is projecting a 20x15cm holographic image above it (we’ll get a better look at this in the next panels) of the document from which he is reading:
Caption: Agent Guy Caillard explains the Moon Treaty…
Guy: It has a truly noble aim, Your Majesty. This is explained in Article 4.
Panel 2
Guy pauses to make a sideways glance back at Bert and Ernie, who grin back at him sheepishly.
Guy: And I quote, ‘The exploration of the Moon and other celestial bodies…’
Panel 3
Two shot of Guy and Fiorella. Guy reads from his PDA holoscreen, Fiorella wears her poker face.
Guy: ‘… shall be the province of all mankind and shall be carried out for the benefit of, and in the interests of, all countries, irrespective of their degree of economic or scientific development.
Panel 4
Medium shot on Babbette. She is looking bored with all this talky-talk.
Guy: ‘Due regard shall be paid to interests of present and future generations as well as to the need to promote higher standards of living conditions of economic and social progress and development in accordance with the Charter of the United World.’
Panel 5
Medium shot of Reggie. We may see Babbette’s head in a lower corner, looking up at him.
Reggie: So what you are telling me, uh, -damn!- us…
Reggie(2): is that the benefits derived from all the celestial bodies, belong to mankind as a whole, rather than to those who risked their lives, health and fortunes to extract them?
Panel 6
Two-shot of Guy and Fiorella. Fiorella has a wry grin, but Guy isn’t aware of her at the moment. He can barely contain his excitement.
Guy: Exactly, your Majesty!
Guy (2): And this found wealth is invested by the UW in the most disenfranchised and downtrodden members of the human family!
Panel 7
Looking past Guy, now on a roll, at Bert and Ernie standing behind him. The brothers are exchanging worried glances, Bert pursing his lips in a silent whistle.
Guy: And Ceres can lead the way in sharing its bounty with all mankind!
Panel 8
Medium close-up of Reggie, looking solemn.
Reggie: What you say, strikes a chord of understanding within us.
Reggie (2): We will meet with our advisers to study your Moon Treaty and other materials. Appear before us prior to your departure. You will be given an appropriate response.
